Out of the ordinary wine tours

FOR WINE LOVERS, BY WINE LOVERS

Bodega Tours organizes and takes you and a small group of your friends on a private wine tour of prominent wine appellations surrounding Barcelona.  The emphasis is on the wine:  tasting select wine, visiting top and up-and-coming vineyards and cellars, talking to the wine-growers and winemakers.  I use a short questionnaire to determine your preferences, and then design a wine tour route, personalized accordingly.

WHY SPAIN?

Wine-making in Spain has reached an interesting point:  new generations of vintners are using modern techniques and state-of-the-art technologies to make modern wines that explore terroir and indigenous grape varieties, such as xarel·lo and sumoll.  There is sufficient history of wine-making for vintners to know and exploit specific plots of land to achieve terroir.  And wine growers are correcting early mistakes in planting popular French varieties (cabernet sauvignon or merlot, for example) to find differentiation possible with local, indigenous grapes.

Today’s Spanish wine-makers are exploring organic and biodynamic viticulture.  Whether producing international-styled wines or allowing the terroir to be expressed, they are not starting from scratch, indeed they are climbing on the shoulders of a prior generation that began a few decades ago, in the Eighties, focussing on making quality Spanish wines rather than quantity.

OUT OF THE ORDINARY WINE TOURS

I want to take you on a tour of these exciting new wine cellars.  As I am based out of Barcelona, I specialize in the wine-producing regions of Catalonia, the D.O.´s of:  Priorat, Montsant, Conca de Barberà, EmpordàCosters del Segre, Pla de Bages, Alella and, of course, Penedès.

My tours are for wine-lovers.  We will think, drink, talk, walk, breathe, basically live wine for the duration of your stay.  This is the type of tour I want for myself.  And to enrichen your wine-tasting visit, I can weave local customs, foods, and cultural sites into your trip if you so desire.
